Cart Curator #66 - Who Did He Date Not Marry?
We unpack the drama on everyone's FYP, a lottery win teacup (yes you read correct) and the next it sneaker.
Hi CC friends,
Jess finally moved into her first London apartment and is currently serial scrolling through H&M and Zara Home to fit out her room - the vibe is giving serenity and relaxation (think whites, wood, and natural fabrics).
Nic has returned to Sydney and routine, where thankfully the sun is out which has helped with the jet lag.
Enjoy,

Our favourite pop culture or industry moment of the week.
Where do we EVEN START with this one? This week we will attempt to break down the Brooke Schofield and Clinton Kane drama that has dominated our feeds, in as few words as possible.
Let’s rewind a little bit to provide some context. The key players are Brooke Schofield, co-host of the Cancelled Podcast, and musician Clinton Kane. Brooke and Clinton dated several years ago during COVID, for between 3 to 7 months. The actual timeline is inconclusive as both disagree with the length of their relationship.
They two have spoken a little of their failed relationship in the past, but the real drama kicked off when Clinton Kane posted the below TikTok to promote a new song, which essentially calls out Brooke for constantly “yapping”.

To which Brooke said “OH, YOU WANT YAPPING. I’LL GIVE YOU YAPPING”, and proceeded to post a 14-part TikTok series detailing all the ways Clinton lied, manipulated and gaslight her during their relationship.

The allegations are insane to say the least, including (oh, but definitely not limited too):
His mum, dad and brother passed away tragically in the same year - when in fact his mum and brother are well and truly alive
He tried to get a podcast interview clip with Zach Sang where he references their death taken down - to no avail
He lied about his age, saying he was two years older than he actually was - apparently he wanted to impress Brooke who said she wouldn’t date someone younger than her
He has said he is Australian and grew up in Perth, which explains why he accidentally slips into an Australian accent - apparently he has lived in many, many different places as a child which affects his accent, and he recognises Australia as his nationality due to spending most of his childhood there
He grew up wealthy, but was also homeless for a stint - apparently when his mum died (he had to pull the plug) he tore up the deed to the mansion in Australia as he didn’t care about wealth
He cheated on her multiple times - he confirmed this one oop
He was controlling - he (kinda) confirmed this
His mum owned the company Birkenstock (????) - sorry, this one really got us.

And of course, Clinton then responded with his own 29-part series on TikTok, with the aim of clarifying on Brooke’s comments and disputing her claims.
Now, surely no functioning adult with a full-time job has the capacity to watch all these videos, so we are passing the baton to one of our faves Bee Better Company who suffered through the all these videos for our benefit.

To recap: Clinton is relying on slip ups and semantics - like incorrect dates and timelines - to try and give himself credibility.

Tana, the other host of Cancelled, putting her support behind her girl.
And now, completely unrelated but we felt it was our CC duty to report that Madeline Argy has also been posting her own unhinged relationship series on TikTok, exposing her ex Central Cee for apparently cheating on her with Ice Spice. SPICY. To save us time - we have nothing left after the above - here is The Cut’s recap.

The Nike Cortez is not a sneaker style that I ever thought would be my taste but after seeing Gabriella Gofis style these on TikTok I knew I had to add them to my now growing sneaker collection. I will admit a lot of the justification around the purchase of these has come from the amount of walking I am/will be doing in London however this sneaker is the perfect low effort style that pairs perfectly with denim of all shades and a white crew sock (cc gen Z). With all the sneakers in my current collection being either black or white this chocolate brown feels like the perfect shade to switch things up without opting for the bright shades that have become popular with the likes of the Adidas Spezial or Gazelle.
I’m calling it early but I think this could be the next it sneaker style.

This feels like a very random selection but this small and often inexpensive accessory is something that I feel can add such a level of chic to an outfit, especially during the cooler months. You may be thinking lol what but this is the detail you never knew your outfit needed and is perfect for accentuating everything from a knit to jeans and a tee.
A good example of how to style this can be seen below in Madelief Wijnker’s TikTok and while this exact look won’t be everyone’s style It gives you an idea of how this can be worked in with a jeans/tee/sneaker/trench combo.

Another MNG rec! The quilted jacket is a trend that I have definitely had my eye on, but just haven’t jumped into yet.
I haven’t seen too many high-street brands do their own version of this jacket, so when I saw Mango’s version, at less than $200, it went straight onto my wishlist.
The darker colour of this would be super versatile, especially with the blue piping which would pair well with denim - from light to indigo blue.
I know we’ve mentioned it before but Mango being stocked on The Iconic is such a win for us Aussies.
Exposing my holiday shopping habits, Jonak is usually my number one shopping stop when I land in Paris. Think of them like the French Tony Bianco - but Parisian, better quality, and original (oop) designs.
I had been on the hunt for a good pair of leather loafers all last season, a pair that would last several years and can be a versatile closed toe work shoe that isn’t a sneaker or boot (literally impossible to find).
When I spotted these in the window at Jonak I instantly knew I could be onto a winner. Simple enough in design, but with some points of interest in the fringe detailing and gold hardware, and v v very good quality. A little pricier that I would normally spend on a shoe at just under $400 but in person these could easily be mistaken for a pair of designer loafers.

Okay after leaving AUS I am officially BIAB and gel polish free and had given up on the idea of semi ‘done’ looking nails given how quickly most polishes seem to chip and how impatient I am when doing anything to do with nails myself. This Active Shine from Manucurist (which is now stocked at Mecca) gives the most incredible look to your nails in what can only be described as your nails but better. Although it looks quite shimmering in the bottle when applied to nails, it just gives a glossy or, as the title suggests, shine to the nails, giving a bare nail a manicured and finished look.
As someone with very little patience, two coats of this also drys extremely fast and has lasted a record number of days without touching up.

Biafine Emulsion
Despite its graphic designer-esque packaging, don’t let this Beauty Counter recommendation fool you - it is far from fancy.
I picked up this iconic tube last week while in Paris after seeing it in countless French Beauty Must Buy stories online. The reason I purchased this is due to a piercing in my ear that I got several months ago that just. will. not. heal, and this is touted as a do-it-all healing salve, perfect for - so essentially a topic wound dressing.
The recommended uses include to soothe dry, rough, scaly and itchy skin, treat minor skin irritations like rashes and burns, insect bites and non-infected open wounds (like my piercing).
To be honest, I think it’s very similar to Savlon - both in benefits, claims, and sensory experience, but isn’t this tube just so much chic-er? I almost (only the smallest bit) want to get a mosquito bite or sunburn to test this out.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries.
We loveeeeee a new Brissy opening and this euro style bistro from the creators of Super Normal (which FYI is coming to Bris soon) appears to be one that cannot be missed.
Bar Miette has the dreamiest outdoor terrace which overlooks the river and from their Instagram photos looks like a really vibey location for an after work drink and a snack.
Lottery Win
A girl can dream.
Nothing says elevated basics like a Khaite Tea Cup and Saucer Set available as part of their trunk show with Moda Operandi. If you love the look of these for your home you can expect to pay $1,680 USD for a set of 4 which seems like a small price to pay for a chiccy diccy at home coffee experience.
Consumables
What we can’t stop binging.
Guys. Do @ not me. I (Nic) know that I am late to the party.
I love a TV series, but am always hesitant to start watching something with multiple series already under its belt. I get overwhelmed.
So, this is where The Bear sat for me. Plus, when I feel like everyone says something is “so good” and a “must watch”, I feel like rebelling. Anyway, long story short I’ve just started watching this and OMG OBSESSED. Aside from the fact each episode spikes my anxiety levels through the roof with all the yelling, I can’t get enough. It is also so refreshing in 2024 to have a show with 30 min episodes, instead of this 1 hour+ nonsense.
Sorry Jess, I know you are going to tell me off for being so behind.
IYKYK
Super specific recs and niche hyper-fixations.
Prime Day(s) is hereeeeeee and having just moved into a new apartment I have been counting down the hours until this sale went live in the hopes of snagging some bargains including a coffee machine, pillows, and a cordless lamp.
If you have shopped the sale in the past you know how good some of the bargains can be with over 50% off on lots of tech, home products, etc. so if you need any updated products or maybe you have just moved somewhere new then this sale deserves your attention.
I believe this runs until the 21st of July so there are still a few days left to shop!
