Cart Curator #62 - We can't come out, we're sick!
How we keep our immune system high, another Brissy One to Try and a new app to upgrade your travels.
Hi CC friends,
Welcome to all our new subscribers who joined us after our In Collaboration Issue with Mode Mischief Studio founder Mia Zotos!
And if you haven’t had a chance to read this, catch up here.
Not too much to report on this week, Nic has been recovering from a cold, and has been laying low while it has become FREEZING here in Sydney.
And Jess is still bopping around Berlin which disappointingly has been colder than Brisbane - can someone please tell us where the Euro Summer vibes are at??
Enjoy,
You Asked For It
Speaking of Nic being ill, it’s that time of the year here in Aus where the sniffles are well and truly spreading. If you’re travelling, planning on travelling or just generally want to strengthen your immune system, we’re bringing back an early days YAFI on our favourite supplements to keep us going…
Whether you’re fighting for your immune system in winter or trying to balance out holiday hedonism, we’ve been asked to share the supplements and vitamins that keep us going no matter what’s in our calendars or happening around us.
NOTE: as always if you have any questions please consult a doctor to see if these are right for you.
This is the one supplement I (Jess) can never be without as someone with a pretty crappy immune system and if you know me personally at this point this product is a personality trait.
Bioceuticals describes this product as “ …a comprehensive vegan formula combining clinically trialled Andrographis and immune-supporting nutrients. Andrographis decreases the severity of symptoms of mild upper respiratory tract infections, including sore throat, headache, runny nose, cough, fatigue and restless sleep. Zinc and vitamin C maintain healthy immune system function.”
Not just excellent for hangovers or food poisoning (but yes, extremely helpful for that too) Hydralite is a go-to when you’re feeling dehydrated due to the heat, being on a plane, exercising or with a compromised immune system.
Personally (Nic) a fan of the Pink Lemonade flavour, taken via dissolving a tablet in water, I find this really helps when I need to kick my body back into gear.
As mentioned above, these are particularly great if you’re flying whether that be domestically or internationally because I find new matter what the plane sucks all of the hydration out of your body - combined with the fact that you’ve likely been drinking less water than you normally would to avoid several trips to those bathrooms.
NOTE: This product has been essential for us recently with so much sun exposure, walking and high temps (hello 40+ degree Rome heat)
Alternatively, if you’re after something a little more holistic, I also recently started taking Berocca occasionally in the mornings and quite enjoyed doing so.
Ok, hear me (Nic) out. I always thought that these were reserved for emergency hangover recovery but I started taking this daily to keep my immune system up before a half marathon, and before I went travelling and found that it really helped.
My partner got sick and was knocked out for about a week. Where is when I was taking the Berocca and I called the same bug I was out for about a day and a half, despite the fact that I’m usually the sickly one.
It’s essentially just a dissolvable multivitamin with an excellent cocktail of vitamins and minerals, and there is a caffeine-free version. Honestly, someone give Berocca a rebrand, because the benefits are not being widely communicated to the masses!!
Great for muscle recovery sure, but magnesium is secretly one of those all-rounder supplements that works to supper your immune system (key), digestion, energy levels and so on.
While I (Nic) dabble in and out of other supplements, this is the only one that stays in rotation all year round. Bonus is that you can get it in cream, oil or spray versions, doubling as muscle recovery. Salt Lab do a very chic version, one you’ll want to proudly display.

As I start (excitedly) thinking about decorating a new bedroom once I settle in London I have been trawling the internet for bed linens and I am currently set on this Rita Ruffle Comforter which is a great dupe for some of the extremely pricey ruffle covers that have been trending on Instagram and TikTok.
I would love to look at also getting some ruffle pillowcases from Etsy in maybe a red stripe or linen to jazz it up a bit further and introduce some colour to it.
Lioness Double Ruffle Mini Skort Soft Lemon
I have seen this skort absolutely everywhereeeee including on creator Nayha (below). I love the look of a mini skirt but we all know the execution of this is near impossible in reality so the skort form but skirt look of this feminine style is ideal.
I love this styled with a white tee and oversized blazer for a super low-effort outfit that isn’t too complicated to style.

I had a dream one night that I owned a handycam and immediately the next day purchased it the next day (welcome to the workings my mind). So far, I’ve had no regrets, and despite not doing any research into this purchase, it has been such a great investment.
I’ve already gone full Regina George’s Mum at the Christmas Show, and have been obnoxiously filming everyone around me over the past few weeks. BUT, I guarantee once they see the content and the vision they will be begging to be Airdropped the footage.
I walked past a closed H&M store (it was at 8AM!) in the city last week and caught a glimpse of this shirt on a mannequin. I immediately googled “H&M draped top” and thank gosh for SEO because Google found this instantly for me.
This tops looks soooo much more expensive than it is ($90), with the different shoulder draping details, and is almost entirely viscose. The cream colour is much more appropriate than stark white,
I’m not sure I could personally pull it off, but the top does have a matching skirt if you’re so inclined. H&M’s stock moves very quickly, so click quick if you’re wanting to get your hands on this one, as I can only see a few sizes left.

HOURGLASS Shape and Sculpt Lip Liner
Following on from my discovery of the HOURGLASS Glossy Balm I have taken a particular interest in their lip products now adding the Shape and Sculp Lip Liner to my makeup bag. This liner applies really easily and feels quite creamy which is where others like the MAC liner have felt a bit dry and chalky making the lips look crusty. This liner has some serious staying power and strikes the perfect balance of this with the product consistency.
I opted for Expose which is a perfect warm beige shade that doesn’t look too salmon-toned, however, they have several beautiful nude shades for every skin tone.

Infrared Saunas
This is a beauty-adjacent recommendation for me, because my reason for falling back in love with the InfraRed sauna is not wholly aesthetically driven.
After I ran my first marathon two weeks back, my body was undoubtedly sore, and I booked into an InfraRed a few days after to help with recovery. Then, I caught one of the many cold/flu strains running rampant across Australia, and have been back again to help speed up the getting better process.
I always feel sooooo good after a session, and whilst pricey, they are such a nice treat if you’ve had a big week/under the weather/want some self-care. I pop a meditation on (either silent, or I use Superhuman actications) and just let my mind and body relax. You can probably find one local to you by just Googling Infrared Sauna, they’re pretty common these days.
They are also apparently good for your skin and cellular healing, so we’ll use that as to why it is a Beauty rec.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries.
Any Brisbane local will already know (and 100% be a fan of) valley institution Happy Boy. Now from the same owners comes French restaurant, Petite, featuring an extensive wine list and a menu jam packed with iconic bistro snacks.
You know we are big fans of all things French cuisine/anything that will transport back to Paris (cries) so this one is definitely on Nic’s Brisbane list.
Lottery Win
A girl can dream.
La Bonne Brosse N.01 The Universal Brush
Everyone has heard of the cult Mason Pearson hairbrush, which retail for $300+, but a new chic and overpriced contender has joined the chat.
Enter the La Bonne Brosse Universal Brush, at just over $250, this hairbrush is practical - sure there is no denying that - but lets be honest, you’re outlying that ridiculous amount of money to get the perfect bathroom shot.
The pink version has stolen my (Nic’s) heart, but it also comes in a yellow, coral and ink blue colourway. If you’ve fallen in love (sorry!), it also comes in a Petite version, of which the cost is slightly more digestible at $175. I did say slightly.
Consumables
What we can’t stop binging.
You know that we love data here at CC (we’ve harped on before about just how much we love the Data But Make it Fashion IG page), so here is a slightly less chic, but just as fun data related rec.
I (Nic) have been following the ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics for the uninitiated) stats page on IG for a while, and am obsessed with their ability to turn data into something fun.
Sometimes educational, sometimes sugar-y - this Shrek infographic says enough about how sometimes irrelevant, but interesting, their posts are.
IYKYK
Super specific recs and niche hyper-fixations.
If like me (Nic) you’ve been seeing Step Your World all across your feed recently, you’re not alone. So let me actually tell you what Step is.
Step is a travel guide app-based platform framed up as a social, culture and travel app all in one, Step brings a new perspective to exploring, allowing the user to find and share experiences and recommendations all over the globe. You can either be proactive and save and share your favourite spots, curating these on a map, which is perfect if you are like us - the friends in your friendship group constantly asked for travel recommendations on where to eat, stay, shop and explore.
My favourite part is that you only see recommendations from people you follow, so you can curate a list of recommendations truly tailored to your own likes and preferences.
What we love about it is they utilise Creators (read, influencers) to share their favourite edits. Worth a download if you are travelling - either internationally or over Aus, or even want to find new spots in your home city!
They do push out a lot of their content on their IG page if you’re not ready to commit to a download, you can get some great travel tips just be following along on there.
