Cart Curator #82 - How times have changed
This week I share a CC update, a cosy and incredibly chic one to try and a flower flavoured toothpaste that has me willing to pay the slightly outrageous price tag
Hey friends,
For those of you who didn't see the note from me on the CC Instagram last week waking up to the election news out of the US, it didn't feel right to share something so lighthearted given what this means for women, the LGBTQ+ community, and immigrants.
I hope everyone is taking a bit of time for themselves and prioritising their mental health during what is quite a scary time.
Now, we're getting back to our scheduled programming. Some of you may have noticed your weekly CC is arriving at a different time. Given that I have moved to London, I have decided it was only fitting to make the live time more suitable to this time zone. Moving forward, CC will arrive in your inbox at 7 PM every Wednesday (London time)/6 AM Thursday (Sydney time), meaning it will be in your inbox for your morning commute/coffee/wake-up scroll.
Enjoy,
Jess x
The Edit
Although I love Mango, this high-street staple can be so hit and miss for me. Moving to London and seeing their physical stores has made this even more evident with their chaotic in-store experience.
However, their latest holiday drop has some really solid pieces that are more party and everyday-appropriate. Kicking off, we have the Short strapless satin dress, which I LOVE, and it reminds me a lot of the sold out satin Helsa dress that blew up last year. This satin mini in its deep chocolate tone looks a lot more expensive than it actually is with its structured boxy cut and train/coat tail details. This dress is so perfect for holiday parties obviously but also hens parties, birthdays, etc.
This next style is super classic, and the Plunge dress with open back would be a good staple in your closet for any occasions that call for something dressier. The dress creates a sleek line with silky fabric that falls over the body and a plunging neckline that screams for a good lariat or drop necklace.
The sheer skirt trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere and this Semi-transparent guipure skirt incorporates the sheer lace we are seeing a lot of in a very chic way. I love the cut of this skirt hitting right above the knees, which is very 90s, and I think the style would work perfectly in a hotter or colder climate. Pairing this with a stocking, skintight long-sleeve bodysuit, sleek black stiletto, and an oversized black coat is currently screaming my name and might be on the cards for my birthday in a couple of weeks.
Although this may seem super boring, a pair of trousers is always a good one to include, and these Pleat detail wool trousers are a great shape and obviously fabrication, given they are 41% wool. A pair of trousers like these in your wardrobe can suit everything from work to holiday parties to casual weekend outings.
I lusted after the studded Alaïa flats and Alias Mae dupes for so long, but these Studded leather shoes are much more versatile and chic. For one, everybody and their dog won’t be wearing them, but for somewhere like London, you can add an extra layer with a knit sock, meaning more warmth. Additionally, I love the more squared-off toe on these and imagine styling them with a longer Bermuda short in Australian summer.
Last but not least, the Double handle suede leather bag is so cute, and I’m considering ordering this one myself. Not long ago, we featured a mini style from Rylan Studio that gives a similar effect to this one but on a much smaller scale. This option is cheaper but also has the same fabrication (real suede), so you are getting that look and quality for less.

Intimissi Boat Neck Modal Cashmere Ultralight Jumper
Intimissi is a brand I hadn't had much exposure to as an Australian, but they have stores everywhere across Europe and the UK. Previously, I purchased some beautiful silk pyjamas from Intimissi at a super reasonable price (as silk PJs go), but I only thought about the rest of their range once I saw a paid post by Tinx. Coming into fall/winter here, I have been looking for something that will help save me from the winter chill, and this essential fits the bill.
They are more of a sheer style, which you can see from Tinx's post, but they look chic styled with a bralette or nicer bra peeking through. Alternatively, this is ideal for layering with thicker knits, with this thin, soft layer sticking close to your body, making it so easy to wear.
Nobody does a basic like Henne, and the Avila dress launched in their latest drop is the pièce de résistance. A t-shirt dress is such a classic and casual staple, but this maxi design elevates the style beyond that, making it a piece suitable for occasions far beyond its means. A t-shirt dress is usually defined by a shift-type style, but I love how this dress has the classic t-shirt cut on top with a deep leg slit that draws the eye to the knot detailing at the waist, giving some shape to this style.
I have already seen this dress on Gem Dimond and Cat Spanti and love how each styled it. This dress screams versatility and would see anyone through any season and many occasions.
Onitsuka Tigers are managing to stick around despite the speed of the trend cycle we live in, and this new denim pair of the Mexico 66 is a fun and different take on the style that we have previously seen become hugely popular in neutral, yellow, and silver hues. The shaggy denim look of these feels like a different take on the Miu Miu denim sneakers or the Miu Miu x New Balance collab, two styles that I don’t love the shape of.
Obviously, the price point of these is much, much lower, which is amazing. Given the popularity of this shoe shape, there is a huge amount of inspo out there around styling these, including tailored trousers, jeans, white socks, etc.
Beauty Counter
Prod of the week.
I’m sure I have included this product before, but time and time again, I am reminded of how much I love it and can’t live without it. The CeraVe Moisturising Cream is a product I will use until I die. It is the perfect multitasking product, especially if you have more sensitive or dry skin. I was put onto this by a dermatologist years ago after severely compromising my skin barrier after using too many actives for my poor already sensitive skin (life of a PR trying to make the most of free products from the stockroom).
This product is so thick, hydrating, and soothing for the skin. I lather it on my face morning and night after cleansing. I also find this to be the perfect product for hydrating my body, and it gets rid of chalky skin after a single application. This is a given if a derm recommends something, but this product is also fragrance-free, which is a godsend for anyone with sensitive skin or looking to simplify their skincare routine.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries.
This has been on my list since well before I even thought of moving to the UK, and I’m sure a few other people can relate. Electric Cinema is one of London’s oldest purpose-built cinemas and seats only 83 people. Having finally tried it, I can say the cinema itself is so beautiful, with leather armchair seats as well as sofas that you can lay on to watch your movie, which was probably the most unique aspect—I tried the sofa, and it was to die for.
They only have sessions for around 2 movies at a time, so the selection is limited, but they are usually the latest releases. You can also get snacks, wine, etc., making for a cosy date night or activity with a friend.

Stella McCartney Knotted draped cashmere and wool-blend sweater
Tell me why this is the chicest sweater ever. This Stella McCartney piece puts a different spin on a knitted vest, and the knot detailing at the centre of the chest is so flattering. It accents the line of the shoulders and adds shape to a piece that is usually known for being quite frumpy and shapeless.
This piece can also be reversed to have the knot detailing at the back should you want some versatility in your pricey knitwear.
Consumables
What we can’t stop binging.
Fall is the perfect time to start binge-watching a show, and Gilmore Girls has always been a comfort show for me that I will never get sick of. For those who have never watched (I hope that’s very few of you) the show centres around the bond of mother daughter duo Lorelai and Rory and their lives living in a small American town whose population quickly becomes their family. This fits into the comedy/drama category, and it is quite an easy watch, but it is something that you probably need to pay attention to the storyline for. However, it doesn’t date the more you watch it.
The show is also full of people who go on to become household names like Melissa McCarthy, Jared Padalecki, Adam Brody, Chad Michael Murray and Milo Ventimiglia - v fun seeing them when they are a lot younger.

Marvis Sinuous Lily Toothpaste
Here comes an unnecessary purchase rec. So, while in Italy, I obviously had to purchase a tube of Italy's own Marvis Toothpaste. Instead of going for something boring like whitening or mint, I chose the Sinuous Lily. This might sound beyond weird, but it is mint infused with Lily, so you still get that ultra-fresh feeling after cleaning your teeth, but with a floral twist, which to me feels like making something so not glam, like cleaning your teeth more elevated and a more calming and pretty (? lol) experience.
