Cart Curator #6 - It's Barbie's World
Plus, we've finally found the perfect white tee, the new it-bag from an unexpected designer, and the supplement we can't live without.
We were once again in the same state this weekend, namely to attend the Mamma Mia! musical (what a vibe). Can confirm that we were ready to riot once it was announced that there was to be NO SINGING during the performance. Even without what would have been an incredible performance from us this was so much fun and a cute girls afternoon. Cue the Mamma Mia! movie soundtrack on Spotify for the foreseeable future.

On another note we popped into the shops quickly and both picked up these Lovisa Chunky Heart Earrings that are a very affordable ($14.99!) version of a previous recommendation. They are smaller in size, so a little more wearable.
Enjoy,

You Asked for It
Our request this week was for budget friendly options when it comes to the elusive basic white tee. This is undoubtedly a staple in everyone’s wardrobe but can often be a tricky piece to get right in terms of cut, fit, fabrication and budget.
Last year, we hit the white t-shirt jackpot when we found the perfect relaxed version in the & Other Stories Relaxed T-Shirt whilst in Paris. We both purchased multiple (like 3 in each colour) immediately, and Jess has since repurchased another two since, so safe to say this style isn’t going to be vanishing from stores any time soon.
We will both be stocking up once again this Summer (yes, it’s really that good). This tee is ideal for layering under a knit as the higher cut neck ensures the tee peeks through at the collar adding dimension.
In exciting news, & Other Stories is now available in Australia via The Iconic (sadly, not the t-shirt in question). The initial edit is small, but we’re hoping (begging) that they will increase the offering.
Our second option is the Uniqlo U Crew Neck Short Sleeve T-Shirt at $19.90. This is a more classic fit, and a better option for layering with a blazer or cardigan.

Our last style is one that skews more towards a baby tee. Cotton On’s The 91 Tee comes in a range of colours and is the same price point as Uniqlo at $19.90. The styling on the website makes it look quite cropped, but we found it actually hits at the perfect point on the waist making it great for slouchier jeans and tailored pants.
Popshop
Our favourite pop culture or industry moment of the week.
Despite the fact that you can not escape the promotion for this film, we are never (ever) going to get sick of seeing any tidbit for the upcoming Barbie Movie.
Our favourite to date is, without a doubt, the story Architectural Digest has done on Barbie's Dreamhouse, which provides background on the influences that allowed production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer to make Barbie "real through this unreal world”.
Opening in theatres in Australia on 20 July 2023 we now know that the film follows Barbie (Margot Robbie), the other Barbies (Issa Rae, Emma Mackey and so on) and Ken (Ryan Gosling), as Robbie’s Barbie seemingly has an existential crisis (been/currently there dolls) driving her to leave Barbie Land for the real world.
I applaud Greta Gerwig, because taking on Barbie is no easy feat. She’s been a mainstay in culture since the 50’s, and if you’re a girl who grew up in the early noughties like us, you’ve already seen Barbie on your screens for years, including her extensive portfolio of games (Barbie Pet Rescue and Barbie Gymnastics anyone?) and movies (Barbie Swan Lake was a personal favourite).
With two trailers now released (see here and here), the playful 90’s esque tongue-in-cheek theme of the clips so far, combined with the stellar cast list and soundtrack line-up (dying over the new Dua Lipa song) has us counting down the days to release.
This is undoubtedly a movie for the girls, but if you ladies need to convince your boyfriends to attend for some reason, just remind them that Dua Lipa does in fact feature in the film. That was more than enough for our partners.

Previously I had been using my Polene Cyme Tote as a work/carry on travel bag and whilst it looks stunning, it skews towards being very impractical by the time you‘ve thrown in a laptop, chargers, toiletries, Kindle, headphones, etc. After a recent international trip, I’ve come to the realisation that I just can’t make the current situ work and am looking at investing in the JULY Everyday Tote Large in Black. The cotton canvas bag includes a laptop sleeve, a water bottle holder, a band to loop the bag over a suitcase handle, and a coated interior. The bag has both the shoulder and top handle straps and this is now a non-negotiable for me.
Anna Rossi Jewellery Stack It Up Bangle Trio Set
Continuing on with my love of silver jewellery the Anna Rossi Stack It Up Bangle Trio Set has caught my eye while searching for silver bangles/cuff after being inspired by Margot Robbie’s Sydney Babylon premiere look. The set of three bangles draws the eye to the wrist and I love the different shapes included in this set, adding interest to an otherwise basic jewellery piece.

Four Pillars Bloody Pinot Noir Gin
I’m a big fan of Australian Gin Distillery Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin, so when I saw they are releasing a Pinot Noir version, I knew I needed to try it. I take the Bloody Shiraz version with my favourite tonic, Strangelove’s Coastal Tonic and a slice of orange, so I'm interested to see how this one compares. Stay tuned, as this is still “coming soon” on their website.
Dissh Monique Long Sleeve Knit Top
Similar to the search for the perfect white tee, the winter “going out top” has been high on my shopping list since temperatures have dropped. I’m very into this cut out version from Dissh.
If you’re after something a little more risque I’m also a big fan of this top from NZ brand of the moment Wynn Hamlyn and this semi sheer off the shoulder from Viktoria and Woods.

I recently stumbled upon this kit when looking into Sofia Richie's wedding makeup by Patti Dubroff who used the Nudestix Nudies Matte All-Over Face Blush Colour in Picante as one of her blush shades (included in this kit). This kit includes three different multipurpose shades (blush, bronzer and highlighter) which I thought would be perfect for throwing in my beach bag (yes for Europe, are you sick of us talking about it yet). I picked this up for 20% off (down to $32.90) in a recent Sephora sale which is an absolute bargain. Sephora seems to be having these more and more frequently so if you’re interested I would recommend holding out until they kick off their next one.

Freestyle Self Grip Rollers from Amazon
A slightly more niche recommendation from me this week.
I’ve re-fallen in love with Velcro Rollers, as the flick-y and natural volume these give are unmatched. I’ll be honest, it took me many (many, many, many) failed attempts to nail these, so don’t give up hope after the first 20 times, it will pay off.
I’ve included a good TikTok tutorial below.

Ferragamo Geometric Shoulder Bag
I (Jess) have been obsessed with the Ferragamo Geometric Shoulder Bag ever since I saw @taniasarin include it in multiple styling videos. Ferragamo’s recent rebrand has seen new styles being picked up by Fashion It Girls, who previously would have not looked twice at their more classic and somewhat outdated styles.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries of the food and beverage kind.
Self described as Italian Elegance, Grill Americano is the latest Melbourne opening from restauranteur Chris Lucas of the LUCAS group (Chin Chin, Yakimono, Baby etc etc). Doing the social media rounds thanks to the grammable Tiramisu, Lucas undeniably knows how to pull together a good venue, from menu to interiors and general vibe. Similar to Yakimono, commentary on TikTok is divided on people’s experiences here, so if you’ve been and have any thoughts please let us know.
IYKYK
Super specific recs and niche hyper-fixations.
For all the stressed and anxious girls, this recommendation is for you. We’ve both recently started taking these, purchased from Chemist Warehouse. They come in both a tablet and gummy form, and because talking about supplements falls into tricky territory with TGA, we’ve ripped this straight from Bioglan’s website.
Ashwagandha is classed as an adaptogen, meaning it may help the body cope better with stress. Supplementing with Ashwagandha root extract helps to relieve symptoms of mild anxiety, reduce sleeplessness, promote refreshing, deep sleep and shorten the time to fall asleep.
