Cart Curator #4 - Chanel's American Dream
Plus, a budget beauty counter rec under $10, upgrading your shower (and sinuses?) and a casual $10k lottery win select for our (pipe) dream office.
Hello new logo!
This weeks newsletter was developed together in person which was such a treat.
We’re soooo excited to still be receiving feedback and have now also started to receive specific requests for pieces you are in desperate need of - but just can’t seem to find.
Moving forward we’ll start by sharing these recs first so please keep them coming!
Let’s jump straight into it.
Jess and Nicole x
You Asked for It
Our first request was for the perfect trans-seasonal trench coat. Our picks are the Cotton Twill Trench Coat from Venroy, which is minimalistic in the best way possible, Macchiato Recycled Tech Trench Coat from AIM’N in a chocolate-y brown colour which strays from the regular tan and lastly, a classic option from LOVER with the Halsey Trench Coat. Nicole’s heart is set on this one from Skall - if you’re looking for an investment piece.
Popshop
Our favourite pop culture or industry moment of the week.
Earlier this week Chanel returned to LA for their 23/24 Cruise show, where Creative Director Virginie Viard showcased a kaleidoscope of Barbiecore, discotheque and signature Chanel tweed, camélias and layered accessories. The show encapsulated the youthful energy of Los Angeles and guests were appropriately treated to a post-show performance from Snoop Dogg.
Like Tiffany’s (who we spoke about last week), Chanel have clearly been busy working overtime to appeal to the next-gen. Look to Sofia Richie’s wedding, the Met Gala, opening their largest US store on Rodeo Drive or adding Timothée Chalamet to their ever-growing list of Gen Z ambassadors. This traditionally French brand is seemingly getting a taste of the American Dream.
For a deeper look into the brand’s direction, this interview with Chanel’s president of fashion Bruno Pavlovsky for Vogue Business is a great read.
In true CC fashion (we mean Cart Curator, not Coco Chanel), presenting our favourite outfits and moments.
Also, the guest styling for the show was a saving grace to the social media chatter around Chanel doing their ambassadors dirty at major red carpet moments of the last few years. See Margot Robbie, Kirsten Stewart and Margaret Qualley for all the evidence you should need.

I’m on the hunt for a new pair of sunglasses, and this tortoiseshell style from LV is top of my list.
Country Road Contrast Pocket Knit
Guys, is something going on at Country Road? There are some chic pieces dropping from the brand, such as this knit, which has a Totême air about it.
Style with a slightly baggy washed blue jean and a slingback sandal for a relaxed, but put-together, winter look.

Heaven Mayhem Amour Silver Earrings
Continuing on from my earring quest last week I stumbled across Heaven Mayhem, a jewellery label started by Melbourne influencer in LA, Pia Mance. I immediately fell in love with the Amour Silver Earrings, an an oversized pair of heart studs that I envisioning styling with my daily uniform of baggie jeans, white tee and sneakers.
Dragon Diffusion Santa Croce Big woven leather tote
I definitely don’t need another bag but this beauty is hard to not lust over - and you know I love a bit of green. The tote is made from woven calf leather that gets thinner towards the top of the bag, which gives it a beautifully-curved trapeze shape. Definitely more of an investment piece, however, I am genuinely considering purchasing after Europe.
Beauty Counter
Prod of the week.

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt
I’ve had this one sitting in my shower for months, and initially couldn’t get it to work for my hair (which is keratin straightened so sits flat). After much trial and error, I’ve worked out that I need to start by cleansing with my regular shampoo (Virtue Labs Recovery), before following up by lathering the scrub at the scalp and finishing with the matching Virtue Conditioner generously from root to tip. When used correctly, this scrub leaves the hair feeling super clean (without that squeaky feeling) and gives volume at the root, giving my hair a faux blow-dry look.

My pick this week is something that’s potentially boring when it comes to products (and hand creams). I am so far from being the type of person that loves beautiful hand creams and applies them at all hours of the day - I’m simply looking for something out of necessity. This hand cream is the answer to mine and my dry cuticles’ prayers. The CeraVe Reparative Hand Cream is quite thick when applied but instantly absorbs into the hands leaving 0 greasy residue to be transferred onto your phone, desk, or bags - you get the drift, I’m not a hand cream person. I have been applying this product before bed (when necessary) and waking up to repaired cuticles and hydrated hands - hallelujah.
Lottery Win
A girl can dream.
For the future Cart Curator office. We’ve gone for Jade Green, but there are several other colour options. And! It’s on sale from $11,000 to $9,350. Bargain.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries of the food and beverage kind.
Amorica, a recently opened Parisian restaurant in Sydney’s Surry Hills, is top of our list for when Jess is next in town. The sister to Potts Point’s Franca and Parla, this is a traditional French-style brasserie in both its decor and menu (think foie gras, steak frites, chocolate mousse).
IYKYK
Super specific recs and niche hyper-fixations.
One of my favourite ways to elevate my bathroom in Winter is by placing eucalyptus in the shower. The steam from the heat of the shower instantly fills the room with the smell, working to both clear the sinuses and create a spa-like experience. I purchase mine from Harris Farm (although I’m sure most farmer’s markets would have this available), and tie it under the shower head using rubber bands. Easy, chic and perfect as we enter cold and flu season.
