Cart Curator #49 - In collaboration with Isobel Larkin
Friend of CC Isobel shares her current recommendations and obsessions, why we think Addison Rae is the next it-girl and adaptogenic spiked choccie.
Hi CC friends,
Welcome to our March In collaboration with… issue! We’re joined by the Sydney-based creative Isobel Larkin, who wears many hats.
“The ones I wear most often are as a fashion and beauty editor, an occasional clothes hanger and I was also a full-time dancer before I was doing what I do now”.
As a journalist, our paths have crossed with Issy over the last several years and we’ve loved as she’s turned her attention to creating fashion-based content on her social media pages. You can give her a follow at @isobel_larkin.
From her you can expect a blend of cat content and wedding prep. “I have two gorgeous cats (make whatever assumptions you will about me - they’re probably true), and I am getting married in May this year”.
We hope you enjoy this issue with Isobel, and we will be back in your inboxes next week.
Enjoy,
Popshop
Our favourite pop culture or industry moment of the week.
We love to keep Popshop for our In collaboration issues light, so wanted to come in with our take that Addison Rae is set to be the next it-girl and potentially even Princess of Pop.
If you’re not familiar with Miss Addison Rae, she was catapulted into the spotlight thanks to her dancing videos on TikTok, went on to join the content-factory the Hype House (throwback much?) and befriended Kourtney Kardashian (a bit weird, forgetting that happened).
Addison’s push into mainstream came onto when she released an EP titled AR, which contained the songs Obsessed and 2 die 4 u, which are both really good, don’t deny it.
Now, we are so here for her it-girl rebrand.
Firstly, her fashion sense is underrated.
When Charli XCX posted this footage to her TikTok, with a recording from “The von dutch remix”, the hyper pop community were quick to welcome Addison into their world.

She’d previously collabed with Charli on the aforementioned 2 die 4, and also made a surprise appearance at her boiler room show. ICONIC, and maybe even a teaser of what’s to come next for Addison.

And lastly, we’re also obsessed (and taking notes) from Addison’s IG page, which is a good reminder to not take your social media pages so seriously.
A modern Lizzie Maguire.
The sepia filter and iPhone 5 are giving 2014.
Matilda Djerf is a fan… need we say more?
We think there are big things coming for Addison in 2024, and we’re calling it now. Watch this space.
Now! Over to Isobel, and you’re in good hands, her recs are top tier and CC approved.

What’s sitting in carts, or what’s been checked out.
Slip Meribella Contour Sleep Mask
Not sure if this is a niche dislike, but I cannot stand the way most sleeping masks press on your eyelids. Anyone else? If so, you will love this. Designed for lash extension wearers, this mask ensures there’s space between the mask and your eyes.
Because it’s super thick and plush, it also blocks out all light and has a calming, almost sedative effect on me. Once I put it on, it’s lights out (literally and figuratively).
Here’s an alarming fact to remember next time you’re shopping for lingerie: Only 2.4 per cent of underwear is made from sustainably sourced materials. If - like me - you’ve been meaning to refresh your lingerie drawer, you must check out Cou Cou Intimates.
To lessen the environmental impact of underwear, Cou Cou makes its range from 100 per cent GOTS-certified organic cotton. Plus, the pieces are pretty cute. Cut from easy-to-wear pointelle and finished with dainty little bows, they’re equal parts practical and fun.
Isobel’s selects are the Cou Cou Intimates The Balconette and The High Rise.
Truthfuly, this one is probably more fitting as a Lottery Win item. After all, I really have no business owning a silk-satin nightgown that is priced at $2,266 and marked “dry-clean only.”
However! I love to dream, am an absolute sap for anything silky (especially when paired with scalloped lace)… and, this fanciful slip from Carine Gilson's Brussels atelier is very typical of what you’ll find perpetually sitting in my cart.
Beauty Counter
Prod of the week.
Gisou Honey Infused Hair Perfume
There is something so irresistably luxurious about the notion of a hair perfume to me and I’ve amassed quite a collection. My most reached for? This sweet little spritz infused with honey and subtle floral notes.I love to spray it when I need a little pick-me-up throughout the day and it instantly lifts my mood.
Gisou’s backstory is fascinating, too. I once had the pleasure of interviewing the brand’s founder, Negin Mirsalehi. She’s s a sixth generation Dutch-Iranian beekeeper who grew up helping her father tend to their beed garden while her hairdresser mother made honey-steeped hair treatments.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries.
It might be a cliché but like many who live in Bondi, I don’t often leave the bubble and it’s even less often that I venture “over the bridge.” However, after reading about Henry G’s newly opened wine parlour in Manly, I’m giving it serious thought. Lined with books and banker’s lamps, the dimly-lit, moody interiors are really beckoning to me.
Lottery Win
A girl can dream.
I’m obsessed with infrared saunas and in a good week, I use one three or more times. I can’t live without the positive mental and physical health benefits they give me, and I constantly dream of having my own one day. While we’re at it, could we please throw in an ice bath too?
Consumables
What we’re consuming on repeat.
Dorian Gray by Sydney Theatre Company
It’s a yet-to-consume but it’s too good not to mention: Sydney Theatre Co’s remounted play adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray (one of my favourite books) featuring Sarah Snook (who you’ll recognise from Succession).
Snook received a standing ovation for her performance while performing this at London’s West End. Oh, and did I mention it’s a two-hour, one (wo)man show, featuring 26 characters… with NO intermission?
Just one view of this social trailer was all it took for me to buy tickets so I’ll leave that below. As one commenter aptly put it, “Why cast men when you have Sarah Snook”?
Sadly, Dorian Gray is no longer open in Sydney. You’ll have to go to London to see it now (which, isn’t the worst excuse to jump on a plane).
IYKYK
Super specific recs and niche hyper-fixations.
Loco Love Black Cherry & Raspberry
I’ve become low-key addicted to all of Loco Love’s other-worldly chocolates, particularly the black cherry and raspberry variant. It contains Schisandra which is an adaptogenic plant (traditionally used in Chinese medicine) that’s said to boast a slew of health benefits like improving energy, and concentration, supporting liver health etc…
But also, it just tastes downright delicious. Its delightfully gooey ganache texture and rich, chocolatey taste make it the perfect post-dinner little treat.
