Cart Curator #45 - In collaboration with Joanna Fleming
Jo shares her fashion, beauty and homewares favourites, her lottery win car and why stars are getting all pressed up.
Hi CC friends,
This month we have the lovely Joanna Fleming joining us. Joanna is a qualified dermal therapist, journalist and content creator who has worked in the beauty industry for over a decade.
If her name sounds familiar it may be because Jo hosted an award winning podcast Beauty IQ Uncensored during her time at Adore Beauty.
“I have just recently left my full-time position heading up content at Adore Beauty (which I did for almost 8 years) to go freelance, so now I see skin consultation clients virtually, create content for my own channels, and work on content projects for clients as well.”
Like all of our CC collaborators, one of the reasons we were drawn to Jo is her style and her candidness on social media.
We hope you enjoy this issue with Jo, and we will be back to regular programming next week!
Popshop
Our favourite pop culture or industry moment of the week.
With so much happening with the seemingly endless Award Season (we’re eagerly holding our breaths for the Oscars really), for Popshop this week we wanted to keep it short and sweet with a chat about something we’ve been noticing as a trend on press tours.
So we’re asking the question why are stars getting all “pressed up” to promote their movies?
What seemingly started with Margot Robbie’s Barbie inspired outfits at every press moment possible in the lead-up to the release of the movie in July last year (yes, that long ago).
ICYMI (how?) here is a recap of some of her key looks, which took inspiration from iconic Barbies throughout the history of the doll.
The world watched on as Barbie set bar pretty damn high for dressing for movie press, and it turns out the rest of Hollywood were talking notes.
If you didn’t know, as part of their acting contract and association with a movie press are typically required to engage in press to promote the movie - think television interviews, red carpets, premieres. What Barbie did, better than anyone else in history, was lean so heavily into the aesthetic of the movie that every moment Margot appeared to do press the movie become a moment of the occasion itself, and the fashion separately - so like a double PR whammy. The dream commitment for the movie who are betting on stars and their press tours to drive hoards into theatres.
We next saw this trend to “dress for your press” when the second instalment of the Dune movies - Dune 2 - started its press tour over the last month. The wider cast, of which includes Timmy, Austin and Florence really committed to the futuristic/interstellar/desert themes, but it was (and always is) Zendaya that stood out.
We all know that Zendaya always brings her A-game to a red carpet (thanks to her long-time stylist Law Roach), but she has well and truly delivered for the occasion with these Dune inspired outfits, something we didn’t see to the full commitment too the first time around.
Another film that has leant into this trend was Madame Web. We spoke about some of the Dakota drama around this film in last weeks issue, if that’s more your jam. The cast leant into the “web” theme were possible, as a nod to the films Spiderman connection.
And for the one we are most excited for - Wicked.
We’ve already seen some glimpses into this movie, but we feel the real show will come out on the red carpet when we see Ariana (who plays Glenda) and Cynthia Erivo (who plays Elphaba) start press for the movie. Watch this space, we’re expecting big things from this cast.
And back over to Jo! See you next week.

Lululemon City Adventurer Duffle Bag
Not overly exciting, but definitely practical: lululemon City Adventurer Duffle Bag
I travelled overseas 3 times last year, and this is the best carry-on bag I’ve ever owned. It’s got a separate bottom compartment for things like slippers (I also put my Omnilux LED Mask in there), heaps of pockets, a strap to go over your luggage handle and it’s made from durable fabric. Highly recommend it if you're lucky enough to be doing a Europe trip this year!
Love Ally Brass Bow Candle Holder
One of my girlfriends recently bought these (she has the best taste in homewares, you can see her stuff here) and as soon as I saw them, I fell in love! Such a gorgeous piece to add to a tablescape, or to elevate an entry table or mantel.
Unfortunately I don’t have much space on our dining table for decor, so I think these will remain on the wishlist until I’ve got room for them.
Beauty Counter
Prod of the week.
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Matte Beauty Blush Wand
I was super late to the party for someone who works in beauty, but I recently tried the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Matte Beauty Blush Wand in Pink Pop and I am OBSESSED! The colour is gorgeous, the texture is ultra-blendable and the payoff is perfect.
I use all my cream products underneath powders, so I put the DIOR Rosy Glow over the top of this, and it’s the blush combo of my dreams.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries.
I really want to try Token in South Yarra by the Darling Group – one of my friends was raving about it the other night, and said it was the best Japanese she’s had in a long time, so it shot straight to the top of my list.

Lottery Win
A girl can dream.
I’m a super sensible spender, so it would depend how much money I won, but my partner and I always joke that if we won the lottery, I’d get myself a Land Rover Defender, specifically in the colour Pangea Green, which would set me back about $170,000. He even took a photo of me in front of one the other day so I could manifest it!
Consumables
What we’re consuming on repeat.
I’m a big true crime podcast listener, and one I found really impactful recently was Hannah’s Story by 9 News Queensland. What Hannah’s parents Sue and Lloyd Clarke have achieved with their organisation Small Steps 4 Hannah has already had a huge impact on how family violence, particularly coercive control, is perceived, talked about, and prosecuted, and this podcast managed to tell the Clarke’s story honestly and respectfully.
TW: This podcast discusses Domestic Violence and could be triggering for some.
IYKYK
Super specific recs and niche hyper-fixations.
I have a heat pack by Kosi that wraps around your whole waist and secures with velcro, so your lower back and tummy is wrapped up in warmth. It was designed by a woman who struggles with endometriosis, and I’ve used mine flat out since I got it!
