Cart Curator #20 - Beyoncé and the Hard Launch of Kylothee
B'day brings out a swarm of celebrities, a Celine doop and the Gossip Girl alumni you must be following.
Hi CC friends,
We had so much great feedback from last week’s collaborator issue, so we’re working on some more exciting takeovers - watch this space.
Is anyone else feeling a bit blah at the moment? Surely something is in retrograde. It feels like we’re racing towards the end of the year but a Christmas break still feels so distant.
We would love to know what you’re loving and if there is anything else you would like to see from us!
Enjoy,
Jess and Nicole x
You Asked for It
Spring is officially hereeeee and we could not be more excited to lose the layers. In many parts around AUS, it’s already heating up, so our YAFI this week is a LBD suitable for a warm weather LBD. We were built for this.
First up is this 100% linen midi number from AERE, one of The Iconic’s in-house brands. The spaghetti straps, neckline and ruffles make this Linen Ruffle Midi Dress a super feminine style, which is something we’re leaning into for Spring. This dress is priced at $160 which is a bit steep, however, The Iconic & AERE frequently go on sale, so one to watch.
I (Jess) am obsessed with this DISSH’s Zoey Black Asym Linen Mini Dress, which is actually quite a basic dress made more interesting with the asymmetric halter neckline. DISSH does a high quality linen pieces, so this brand generally is bound to be on our wishlist for spring. If a mini isn’t your fave length this also comes in a midi.
Lastly is the VRG GRL Discoteca Mini Dress which features a low back and cut-out sides complete with silver loop details which adds a bit of fun to an otherwise plain shift dress.

Popshop
Our favourite pop culture or industry moment of the week.
The last few weeks of Popshop have seen us deep dive into recent scandals (read our Cosette stories here and here) and cover more business focused stories like our acquisition chat. So, we’re going back to our roots this week with a well-needed dose of sugar-y pop culture new.
Just when you thought nothing could possibly bring together more celebs than Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour, Queen B’s Renaissance Tour goes one step further attracting swarms (excuse the Beehive pun) of high profile celebrities for her Birthday Concert in Los Angeles. It’s less of who was there, and more of who wasn’t. Celebrities followed the silver/chrome theme more so than they have the Met Gala dress code in the past. In CC fashion, we’ve quickly recapped some of our favourite moments.
Jeff Bezos rolled in with the Kardashians. Many questions.
Meghan Markle becomes the third Destiny’s Child member. Beyoncé was busy being the breakout star of the group OFC.
Vanessa always knows how to nail a theme.
Mood x1000
Which brings us to the newest it-couple that no one had on their 2023 Bingo Card - Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner. This unlikely pairing (at least as far as Kylie’s concerned, the woman clearly has had a type in the past) existed as a mere rumour for months. So, when they finally made their romance public at the concert, we shouldn’t have been shocked (but were). We love absolutely everything about this - it’s giving we are just out here living our lives - and the world just happened to be there to see it.

I’ve had an ongoing love affair with the Celine Triophe Metal Sunglasses that became impossible to find after going viral. I lucked out while I was in Paris, spotting a pair at the Galeries Lafayette and whilst I love them, this style fits into more of the trend category for me and as a result, doesn’t warrant spending the $790. Luv Lou has recently launched a similar pair in both gold and black. The gold has already sold out (I’m not surprised at $150) so keep an eye out for a restock.
Alright, coming to you directly from our chat is a highly divisive shoe (Nicole had many thoughts) that I picked up during VOSN. I debated purchasing these since they launched and fortunate for me they sold out soon after. The shoes will not be for everyone and for those I have asked, made me aware of that. And more importantly, let’s call a spade a spade, these are more than inspired by the Alaia Ballerinas in Fishnet. Nonetheless, they are a super fun/different take on the ballet flat trend especially coming into Spring/Summer - see outfit inspo below.

Summer Denim
Despite the weather warming up, I’ve been seeing denim everywhere in recent SS23 collections. If the sweaty idea of wearing jeans or a denim jacket comes to mind, let me show you a few more weather friendly ways to incorporate this fabric into your Spring wardrobe.
I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of everyday dungarees, and these H&M Denim Dungarees are a great high-street option. I can’t wait to style these with a basic white tee and sneakers for a casual look, or with a striped button up to make it a little more work appropriate.
As soon as I laid my eyes on this dress at Zara, I knew I had to purchase it. It has a GANNI vibe, and my purchase decision was confirmed when this video popped up on TikTok feed the same day.

Don’t let the beach-iness of a denim short make you shy away from styling this in a more elevated outfit. I purchased these basic denim shorts from Mango in both classic blue and washed black whilst in Europe and I can’t wait to keep wearing them into Australian summer. If you want something a little more longline, these from Stradivarius via ASOS are a great option.
Beauty Counter
Prod of the week.

An eyelash curler is something I refuse to spend money on, but expect the best results. I had been suffering through with another unbranded eyelash curler that did little besides pull my eyelashes out until I saw the MCoBeauty Comb Eyelash Curler for under $10 at Woolworths and thought what have I got to lose (besides more eyelashes which was already happening - so literally nothing). I was pleasantly surprised with this product as it is super easy to clamp down on the lashes, guides them into the right place with the inbuilt ‘comb’ and gives them a stunning amount of lift with only a few clamps. Highly recommend.

Mecca Max Off Duty Serum Skin Tint
I’ve previously mentioned how much I love Mecca Max’s Off Duty BB Cream in a past newsletter, so when I saw they were releasing a Skin Tint version, I immediately purchased.
I personally love a very natural finish (your skin but better, no-makeup makeup etc), and this gives an even more natural finish than the BB cream. If you don’t love next-to-nothing coverage, then this isn’t for you - scroll on. The look and feel is similar to Glossier’s Perfecting Skin Tint (which I also love, but come on Glossier, your moment in time to launch internationally has passed), but Mecca’s version is packed with skin-loving ingredients like Niacinamide and Squalane.
I usually lean for a lightweight base option for both work and the weekends, particularly as the weather warms. The shade range is much more extensive than that of the BB cream, and Mecca are great with samples, so definitely pop into your local and have them shade match so you can take it home and test it against your skin.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries of the food and beverage kind.
Another Place recently opened its doors in Sydney serving up brekky and a stunning range of bagels. Our TikTok feeds are currently full of people queueing for PopUp Bagels in NYC so this new location serves our FOMO locally.
Lottery Win
A girl can dream.
Both of us now have bobs, so the traditional claw clip is no longer a viable option when you need to throw your hair back. These mini clips from Celine are the perfect size, but the price point falls within Lottery Win territory at $670. There’s no way to apply girl math here, sorry, we tried.
IYKYK
Super specific recs and niche hyper-fixations.
You most likely know Kelly Rutherford for her iconic role as Lily, Serena Van der Woodsen’s high society mother on Gossip Girl. Since wrapping the show, she has become our (and many other people on the internet's) obsession for quite literally being her character in real life.
Her wardrobe emulates that of Lily Van der Woodsen herself (Rutherford actually bought her own Kellys and Birkins to the Gossip Girl set to style with her outfits - iconic) and we just can’t get enough of the rich mum energy.
Oooh that Mecca Max skin tint looks great. Reckon it’d hold up on an oily t-zone?
