Cart Curator #9 - And Just Like That we have Season 2
An unlikely combo of crochet and sequins, a rediscovered BB cream, and the healthy-ish (?) lollies Nicole can't stop eating.
Hi CC friends,
Nicole spent most of her week going through the necessary pre-trip Olympics before she flys out this Saturday (!). This included stocking up on multiple mini toiletries and all the last-minute beauty appointments - including a Keratin hair treatment, laser, mani/pedi, and a lash lift and tint. I'm both an insanely organised but equally forgetful person so I am now packed (one week in advance) to avoid any stress.
Jess on the other hand has purchased a literal clothes rack to pre-plan her holiday outfits (it hasn’t helped).
Enjoy,
You Asked for It
This week’s You Asked For It comes straight out of our own group chat, with the girls needing to know exactly what everyone is going to wear to survive 30 hours of long-haul flying. Luckily for those not planning a trip, these suggestions also fall into comfortable clothing to get through an Australian winter (somehow the temps have dropped once again).
NOTE: We have seen some people opting for linen styles or “real clothes” for their long-haul fights and that is something either of us will never be doing. It gets bloody cold on these flights and so some version of a tracksuit is always preferred.
Jess and I actually have both recently gotten our hands on tracksuit pieces from Rozalia Russian’s second collaboration with Melbourne label Atoir. These will definitely be making an appearance on our separate flights and once we return to AUS (don’t even want to think about this). The Atoir x Rozalia Russian Re-Edition collection includes a series of elevated staples including tracksuit separates, singlets, socks caps, and other wardrobe staples perfect for travel and lounge. Our picks are The Collar sweatshirt and The Track Pant.
Sustainably minded brand Panagia which blew up during lockdown has also launched in Australia within the last week partnering exclusively with David Jones to launch their unisex signature tracksuits which offer a chic (albeit a higher price point) lounge set.
We know both these options fall into the expenny category so also want to shout out another personal favourite that has seen us through many years (legit since birth), Bonds. With a range of cotton tracksuit pants and sweatshirts/hoodies in multiple different fits you can’t really go wrong with their classics and the possibility of snagging them up in one of their regular 40% sales makes these that much sweeter.
Popshop
Our favourite pop culture or industry moment of the week.
This year, Sex and the City celebrates its 25th Anniversary, all whilst remaining incredibly relevant in pop culture. Our small and big screens have been graced with the romantic trials and tribulations of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte, over six seasons, two movies (one we could forget though), and endless iconic celebrity cameos (we bet you didn’t remember Jennifer Coolidge and Matthew McConaughey dropping in).
And the end of 2021 the show returned with the reboot And Just Like That and I (Nicole) will be perfectly honest, I don’t think that it should have.
Alas, now we are about to be blessed with a second season. Will we watch it? Jess is a definite yes even after cringing through the first season and at this stage, Nicole is a hard no (and it will probably stay this way). Now that they’ve gone and offed Big (writers’ room rejoicing having successfully written Chris Noth out post sexual assault allegations), we’ve since learned that Aidan is back to resume his role as Carrie’s punching bag.
Ok, we’ll stop the AJLT shit-talk now. Moving onto our actual topic, the impact of SATC on our generation (and many others), from relationships, sex, careers, lifestyle, drink orders and friendships. Not to mention, the impact costume designer Patricia Field had on the fashion industry through the outfits of the cast (which ranged from iconic to outrageous).
Patricia Field has moved on from the SATC franchises, doing God’s Work with Emily in Paris (of which I refuse to hear any slander on the outfitting).
SATC has become a comfort show for many people and although the glamorous lifestyle and some aspects were unattainable (Carrie’s apartment and wardrobe on a writers salary) the thing so many people resonate with is that despite the fact they are only a few years older than we are now, they are still navigating through life trying to find their place and understand men. Sure, some of the storylines, characters and quotes are a little outdated and might not pass the test today, but the show is one that for many women still represents the undeniable importance of female friendship.

Lack of Colour The Inca Bucket Hat
Despite the illusion of always being bronzed (which is just usually patchy Loving Tan) I am extremely pale and burn so easily. I’ve been thinking ahead to what I will be needing to ensure a third degree sunburn doesn’t ruin my he entire trip and I have been hunting for a chic hat option - more specifically something that isn’t going to be ruined in an overpacked suitcase or beach bag. The Lack of Colour Inca Bucket Hat is a super cute straw style and is made of a floppier (?) straw making it perfect for folding without snapping the fibres and in general ruining the hat. Will I look like someone’s mum? Will I look like a 5-year-old? That’s yet to be known but this or the near-identical Arms of Eve Mirabel Bucket Hat are serious contenders.
Matteau Crochet Sequins Tank Black
This item is so not me and goes against everything my boring wardrobe stands for but this Matteau Crochet Sequins Tank Black has well and truly got me hooked. To be honest this may as well be a lottery win pick because I will not be spending nearly $400 on a sparkly tank top so I have sourced this Sequin Crochet Top and Knitted Top with Sequin Detail both from Mango at far more achievable prices.

One of the best things about Australian winter is that you can usually get away with slight skin exposure, whether that be an open toe shoe, a skirt or cut-out. I’ve been leaning into a kitten heel to counter a heavier winter look and love the Butterscotch sueded colour way in Tony Bianco’s Sakai Heel. I would wear these styled with a black straight leg jean, boxy white tee and chunky knit cardigan.
Tony Bianco has a strong range of micro heels at the moment.
& Other Stories Pleated Detail Tube Top
Similar to my ballet flat debacle from an earlier newsletter, the tube top (or colloquially the boob tube) is a trend I’ve resisted. But, once again Matilda Djerf’s impact can not be understated and finally I’ve come around to the style. I recently purchased this simple black option from Dissh, but also have my eye on this more structural number from & Other Stories, one of Jess and I’s favourite brands and is now available on The Iconic.
Styling notes CC of Matilda OFC.

We are here again with another fragrance recommendation (sorry) but after a friend (hi Britt) recently made a stop at the Glossier store in London I have finally acquired the Glossier You EDP. Now, this purchase was made completely blind given I wasn’t there to actually smell the scent, so the decision consisted entirely on confirmation from my friend that I would like the scent. As touched on last week, I am picky with fragrance and anyone familiar with this perfume would know that it apparently smells different on everyone, so it was anyone's guess. Surprise I love it and it smells exactly like the Elizabeth and James Nirvana White perfume which I owned many years ago. Elizabeth and James was actually created by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen (lol many years before The Row) and now no longer exists, so very excited about this find.

I recently found an old tube of this sitting at the back of my makeup drawer during a frenzied clear out (you know the one where you realise it's probably time to part with that 3-year old mascara and expired selection of samples?) and remembered how great it is. Although described as a BB cream, I would put this more into the lightweight foundation category, easily buildable and best applied using the warmth of your hands. Perfect for when you need something lighter on the skin, such as going to work, the weekend or for me most recently, post lunchtime gym class.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries of the food and beverage kind.
This deli has been frequenting our FYPs for the past few months and we can’t get the sight of their steak frites sando out of our heads. Everything they do looks like it will be divine and if the reviews on TikTok are anything to go by, it will be worth the wait you will no doubt encounter.
Lottery Win
A girl can dream.
These Barbie-core bubblegum pink, crystal heart bedazzled mules from Jimmy Choo (rogue?) are a want, not a need. Which at $1,395 is good news for our bank accounts.
If you are a bride-to-be you NEED the white pair for an hens / engagement / reception shoe. Please, do it for us.
IYKYK
Super specific recs and niche hyper-fixations.
I (Nicole) can not get enough of these. Somehow these no sugar lollies from Australian brand Funday have a 5-star health rating whilst also managing to taste very, very, very good (willing to ask no questions as to how). My favourite is the Sour Peach Hearts, which have an excellent balance of sour and sweet. They also only come in individual 50g packs, perfect for portion control.
Lastly we (Jess) leave you with a TikTok that is consuming my mind since viewing - this goes out to any RHOBH or Vanderpump Rules fans.
