Cart Curator #10 - Let them wear Jacquemus
The thong is back, our go-to face tan and the laundry detergent (?) we’ve been gatekeeping.
Hi CC friends,
Here comes the first round of “where in the world is Jess and Nicole”. I (Nicole) have just landed in Mallorca, and am very ready to soak up that European sun.
Today Jess pulled off the impossible and secured Taylor Swift tickets, and in just over one week will make her departure to Europe. The panic over the packing situation is currently setting in with the additional anxiety of leaving her fur bebe/emotional support animal.
Some super exciting news on the newsletter front. As much as we know you love having us in your inbox weekly (we hope) we are also constantly lusting after recommendations from some of our favourite creators. So, we thought what better way to discuss these then share them with you directly? So, starting very soon, we are introducing a new series, called Cart Curator Collaborators, where we will see some of our favourite creators join us each fortnight for a ‘guest edit’.
Also PSA to anyone that loved the July Tote I shared in a previous newsletter and then promptly sold out - it is now back (+ a zipper) and I have been able to snag myself (Jess) one just in time.
Enjoy,
You Asked for It
We hate to break it to you, but the trusty thong is making a comeback and we don’t mean the underwear à la Kath & Kim. We’ve recently received some questions about different styles and how these can be worked into our wardrobes (and no not just for the beach).
First off the ultra-chic leather A-Emery Kinto Thongs are currently making their way around Europe with me (Nicole), but had also been getting a good workout in Australia (yes, even in winter). For warmer times, style with a simple maxi dress or styled with an oversized black blazer and suit pant (I promise it works guys!).
Next up we have this modern interpretation of the humble Havaiana in the way of the Havaiana Slim Square Toe Thong. This style is definitely a more elevated version of the classic thong we know and love just with a closer-fitting squared-off toe and thin straps. These were also featured as part of the St Agni show at this year’s AAFW where they were styled with suits. I (Jess) have picked these up for Europe to style as part of my wardrobe taking inspo from Cass Dimicco and Tania Sarin.
Popshop
Our favourite pop culture or industry moment of the week.
This week Jacquemus held their Fall 2023 show and if you can expect anything from the brand, it is their ability to bring an absolute spectacle in all aspects of their shows. See the show on the beach in Hawaii and that in a lavender field in the South of France.
Their Fall 2023 show titled 'Le Chouchou’ was held at Versailles, of all places. (I mean, even Kim and Kanye couldn’t get Versailles).
Frow were seated in literal row boats on the Grand Canal, causing the 400M long runway to blow up on social media before the models even appeared.
Jacquemus stated that Princess Diana (our queen) was an inspiration for this show which can be seen throughout the styling elements, noticeably in the jewellery and designs.
We’ve recapped some of our favourite moments below.

Jag Organic Cotton Blend Short Sleeve Denim Shirt
I’ve been seeing boxy short sleeve denim shirts everywhere and have been lusting after this one by Shona Joy but not loving the price tag of $260. Jag has been doing some beautiful pieces recently, shifting the brand once reserved for the wardrobes of your mum into clothes for a younger age bracket (maybe just me not seeing what they have done all along?). They recently released the Organic Cotton Blend Short Sleeve Denim Shirt, and whilst not as premium looking as the Shone Joy piece this deeper denim is super versatile and definitely gives off a similar look, particularly when paired with the matching skirt.
DISSH Charli Black Satin Maxi Skirt
As a v tall girl it is near impossible to find a chic silky/satin slip skirt that doesn’t end up looking like an odd workwear style that hits just below the knee. While in store at DISSH I found this absolute gem which is sooooo long but the dream length for me. This is definitely on my to-buy list and needs to be acquired ASAP.
PSA for all of the Sydney girls - DISSH have finally announced a store will open in Bondi, this September.

Despite the fact that I am currently on holiday, I am already thinking about my next getaway, which will hopefully involve skiing. Finding chic and practical ski gear that won’t blow the budget is near to impossible, so I was ecstatic when I found out that Half Days, an American brand, are now shipping to Australia and New Zealand.
They describe themselves as “performance meets fashion”, of which I agree because you won’t believe how many major ski-wear brands that market to the fashion set (I won’t name names), sell pieces that aren’t even waterproof (being water resistant is NOT the same as being waterproof!). I’ve got my eyes on the Aston Jacket and Isabel Pant.
On the complete other end of the price scale to my above recommendation is this sunglass chain from Le Specs. My partner and I both purchased this ahead of our trip, but it is generally an easy way to elevate your look as an accessorie. The rubber “hooks” can be easily attached to any pair of sunglasses with a small to medium frame, and for $11.95 you really can’t go wrong.
Also very into this chic pearl version from Arms of Eve.

As someone with skin sensitivity to sun/fragrance/animals/most skincare ingredients/life I have found it near impossible to use face tan with most ruining my skin for the foreseeable future. I was recommended the Eco Tan Organic Face Tan Water by a friend that was a religious user and I have never looked back. This product provides such a natural glow, doesn’t cause my skin to freak out and can be worn before bed, during the day or whenever without looking crazy. Big fan.

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips in By Laura
This is another item I’ve been secretly gatekeeping for years. By Laura is the perfect blue-based orange red lipstick, and scores me many a compliment when I wear it. It instantly makes your teeth look whiter and can quickly pull together a basic look. The Hot Lips formula by Charlotte Tilbury is a matte finish, but has a creamy feel when applied, and doesn’t end up cakey and flakey by the end of the day. Despite the fact that the brand is available at Mecca, they sadly do not have this shade available in Australia. That being said, the Charlotte Tilbury website ships directly to Aus, and the prices are comparable, so it’s still generally accessible.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries of the food and beverage kind.
The Body Firm Lymphatic Face Massage.
Okay so this isn’t actually food or beverage buttttt this was too good not to talk about. I (Jess) found The Body Firm in Brisbane through Brisbane-based MUA Ginelle Dale and had been previously looking for something like this for such a long time as someone who clenches/grinds their teeth and has serious sinus issues (love this for me).
This was such a relaxing experience and is so soothing and gentle on the face which is very different to what I had thought before going into the experience and if you’re someone that suffers from sinus issues you can feel immediate changes to your breathing and general tenseness of your face.
I will definitely be going back again and next time will be trying the abdominal lymphatic drainage massage as well.
Lottery Win
A girl can dream.
There is something obscenely luxurious about travelling to the other side of the world, only to stay within the constraints of a resort that offers it all. However, when its Hotel du Cap, we will volunteer.
IYKYK
Super specific recs and niche hyper-fixations.
Ok, this is a very niche recommendation, but this is what IYKYK is for right?
I (Nicole) have been using this liquid detergent for well over a year now, and every time I do a load, I am reminded just how good it makes your clothes smell. Trust me, just try it.
