Cart Curator #74 - Florals? For Spring?
How to nail the Rugby Shirt trend, an early noughties TV show to re-indulge in and the lip oil that Jess trekked across London to hunt down.
Hi CC friends,
Jess spent a lovely weekend exploring Brighton, you can see a snippet of her day in an ootd TikTok here. Today she is off to Turkey to visit some family and soak up some sun before the Autumn temps fully set in.
Nic has had a very busy few weeks, and we will have a little more to share on that in coming issues.
Enjoy,
You Asked For It
Our YAFI this week is on wearable sporty Rugby Shirt style shirts that look chic, and not like you borrowed them from your Dad.
Our first option is the Lioness Leisure Polo, a versatile (and affordable) piece that can be easily styled for the everyday. This is a short-sleeve take on the style, so is more appropriate for Australia right now as the temps are creeping back up to high 20s.
Our next option is another striped style, from Motel (also available on Asos for our international readers). This looks sooooo comfy, and how fun is the apple embroidery detailing?
Our next option is also v v affordable, with CC favourite Cotton On. Their Oversized Polo comes in both blue and red options, but the latter gives more of a collegiate vibe - which if you’re going to be styling a sporty piece you may as well lean into. It’s also only $60, and that’s full price - because we all know that Cotton On runs regular sales.
Ok don’t hate me (Nic), but I couldn’t not include this option from Celine. A Lottery Win sure, but it manages to get everything right - the proportions, the colours, the stripes, the subtle Triomphe (the current Celine logo for the uninitiated) on the breast. CHEF’S KISS. And it’s also just under $2,000. Ok - bye!

I am such a fan of CHIMI sunglasses after purchasing a pair in Positano last year and this dark grey style needs to be mine as we head into Autumn. This style leans more into a speed dealer (lol) style with a more streamlined silhouette that wraps the face.
Available in a huge range of colours I love the dark grey that still melds into the dark lenses without being all black like my other pair of CHIMI’s. Although this style is somewhat ‘edgier’ than my usual taste I think these would be a vibe in Winter with sweats and an oversized black coat or other black dominant outfits.
Tony Bianco Harriet Black Satin
Bravo Totême, I mean Tony Bianco… These 90’s style Totême-esque mules are such a classic style that would be worth investing in for a capsule style wardrobe - or any wardrobe for that matter. The kitten heel makes this pair suitable for night or even work and the squared-off toe is a welcome change from the ultra-pointed styles of late.
This price point is quite reasonable for Tony Bianco, and I feel the brand is slowly starting to claw its way back from a series of subpar drops that just missed the mark for its usual position in the trend launch cycle.

A very different change up to Jess’s two black pieces this week with a pair of floral dresses (a clear indicator of which Hemisphere we are living in).
I saw Lolita Olympia (linked below) wearing this whilst in Italy and I knew I needed this fun Ganni number for Summer. This looks very similar to a few Realisation Par dresses I’ve had in the past, that I have worn to DEATH, so I know that something like this will get a good workout in my wardrobe.
Imagine, you’ve spent all day on the beach, had a nap and fresh shower and put this one for sunset cocktails. Divine.
Dôen Adele Floral Print Mini Dress
Ok, we get it. FLORALS FOR SPRING? Groundbreaking. But I couldn’t not include this second floral dress from Dôen. Their pieces are typically a little bit too hippie chic for me, but the cut on this little cotton mini dress saves it from looking like Byron Artist.
Is the pattern giving Grandma’s curtains? Maybe. Is it also chic? 100%.

Tarte Maracuja Juicy Plumping Lip Oil in Honeysuckle
I had to HUNT this product down after seeing it swatched on TikTok and let me tell you finding Tarte in London is no easy feat. Once I finally made it to Westfield London (it was literally not much of a trek at all) but I spent time swatching all of the shades and strangely I was drawn to the darkest of them all which is so unlike me.
This product is leaning into the look of Clinique’s Black Honey with its slight tint of deep berry/purple with a hint of black shade however the formula of this is the real stand out for me. Having tried a friend’s Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker in high school I was permanently scarred by the intensely sticky formula and burning sensation of the plumping ingredients. This plumping Lip Oil couldn’t be further from that with its hydrating formula that can be dabbed into the lips versus a full-blown sticky application and extremely subtle menthol element that makes lips look healthy and juicy.
The next shade on my list is the Buffed Rose which I feel is the perfect traditional nude!

Nothing will make you feel as put together as wearing matching scented body lotions and perfumes. It’s like the beauty equivalent of wearing matching underwear and a bra. It will leave you questioning - Am I that girl? It will leave you feeling like one of the chic corporate women in the opening scene of The Devil Wears Prada (my childhood fantasy TBH).
Mecca has just launched Glossier’s body lotion version of their iconic Glossier You fragrance, and it is divine. Not only does it smell great (obviously) it is luscious and silky. Not too greasy/oily and not too lightweight that you don’t feel moisturised enough.
One to Try
Recent openings and discoveries.
Sydney’s Inner West has had a string of vibey new openings this year, and Bistro Grenier is the next on the list.
Located upstairs of Old Culture on King Street in Newtown, Bistro Grenier is a modern French bistro with a twist of Inner Westie hipness.
Lottery Win
A girl can dream.
Tory Burch Pierced 45mm Wedge Mules
I (Jess) have been obsessed with the Tory Burch pierced styles for approximately a year - you can even see them included in CC last year here. This newer wedge style has caught my eye with its rounded enclosed toe that is very reminiscent of the Phoebe Philo era Celine Pirate Sandals.

What we can’t stop binging.
Real ones remember Thank God You’re Here. The OG show ran from 2006 to 2009, and was a childhood favourite in my (Nic’s) household. The iconic Aussie show finally returned to television last year, still on Channel 10 for those wanting to catch it on Free to Air, but I personally am just as happy absorbing the content on their TikTok page (says something about my attention span…).
Just as funny (maybe even funnier now the adult jokes make sense to me) as I remember it being.

Your Local Library
Ok, so this isn’t a super special secret that only those in the know, know, but as an avid reader I (Nic) am always shocked at how many people buy books, not loan them.
I’ve been a library borrower of books for as long as I can remember, and as someone who reads ALOT (I did 53 books last year) think it is the superior way to read.
Firstly, nothing is more chic than ready a physical book (sorry Kindle users), especially out and about on the train, the beach or the park. Secondly, it’s cost effective (read - free), and it means that if I start reading a book that I’m just not getting in too there is no guilt in putting it down. Thirdly, it means I don’t have to store multitudes of books in my small Sydney apartment, and LASTLY, apparently authors get paid when you borrow the book - so you’re still supporting.
